This chain maille bracelet has been made using the half persil 4-in-1 weave. This is a very elegant weave that gives a relatively flat bracelet. The gold and rose gold plated copper jump rings work well together giving a very luxurious finish.
Now for a bit of history!
Chain maille is thought to have been invented before the 5th century by the ancient Celts. The name is derived from the French ‘maille’, which is derived from the Latin word 'macula' meaning 'mesh of a net'. There are three main types of chain mailed European, Japanese and Persian. This bracelet has been made using the half Persian 3-in-1 weave, one of the newer chain maille weaves.
In these modern times jewellery made using these medieval techniques create a modern industrial meeting historical armour look. Chain maille jewellery pieces are very durable piece as can been shown in the medieval armour that was made back then which we can still see today in museum or even at the butchers where it is worn to protect their hands. It is also used by scuba divers who work with sharks.
A piece of chain maille can be made to suit everyone, be it young, old, male or female. It just depends on the materials used: glass; metal; pearls; precious gemstones. The jewellery is only limited by your imagination.
